Speech title: EasyPASS - Automated Border Control based on ePassports
This presentation addresses the German Automated Border Control solution operated at Frankfurt Airport. Besides the detailed checks of optical and electronical security features of the passport, face recognition is used for the biometric verification of the document holder. In addition to technical and organizational details, results about the biometric performance and the lessons learned will be explained.
Biography
Markus Nuppeney has a degree in computer science from Darmstadt University of Technology. Since 2003 he is working for the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) as senior official. His main field of activities at BSI is electronic travel documents and biometrics. Markus Nuppeney is responsible for border control systems based on biometrics and electronic travel documents and is also involved in the design and implementation of the German ePassport and the German national electronic ID card.
