This presentation will take us forward into the unknown - what will the travel document of the
future look like? How will we use it? Will we need travel documents at all?
Biography
Robin Chalmers has been involved as a government official with the travel document world for over 40 years. Having spent 20 years with the UK Immigration Service in various locations and positions both in the UK and overseas, he moved to the UK Passport Agency (now Identity and Passport Service) in 1990 where he has spent another 19 years covering a number of roles including managing one of the UK’s passport offices for a number of years. Robin has been active for many years in the International Civil Aviation Organisation Technical Advisory Group contributing to both the New Technologies Working Group and the International Capacity Building Working Group. He has also worked with the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in a number of document and issuance security workshops. Latterly he has been head of international policy at the Identity and Passport Service. Robin’s wide ranging experience places him in a unique position to provide his thoughts on what the future holds for travel documents and their uses.
